The Rise of Sabrina Escalona: A Young Water Champion as a Nature-Based Designer

Updated: Jul 15

The Ecosensya Team is so proud of our very own Sabrina Escalona to represent the company in the newly completed Women Champions in the Water Sector Fellowship held last June 23-26, 2024 at SEAMEO Innotech, Quezon City organized by Angat Buhay in cooperation with Kingdom of the Netherlands, Manila Water Foundation, and Water Alliance. She was one of the selected 20 applicants that demonstrated passion for driving positive changes in the water sector.

She began her journey as a young water champion as a research assistant with Ecosensya on her 5th year as a Chemical Engineering student at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. After graduation she continued with her role as a research assistant. But her interest in wastewater treatment was not left unnoticed by the company. She was given freedom to explore innovative wastewater treatment designs anchored in nature-based solutions (NbS). But as she delved in research and uncovers more information about water she took on a paradigm shift. Setting aside her lure to wastewater treatment she switched her passion to main water source production and sustainability. This led to opportunities to design nature-based solutions for river rehabilitation, water cycle restoration, in-situ water supply, and educational water campaigns under Water Project PH.

She has truly imbibed the vision of Ecosensya to provide for a water abundant and sustainable Philippines. With young water champions like her, we see a bright water future ahead.

Mabuhay!!!!
